Racial Reconciliation Series 2020

December 5, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Rev. Dr. Michael Battle
Herbert Thompson Professor of Church and Society and Director of the Desmond Tutu Center at General Theological Seminary

“My passion is for reconciliation, which was imprinted upon me while I lived for two years with Archbishop Tutu. It is humorous because when I write a book, and try to pitch exotic titles, the publishers always throw the word “reconciliation” in the title somewhere. Perhaps I’ve been labeled; but it also may be telling me to pay attention to what God has put me on this earth for.”

The Rev. Dr. Michael Battle is an Anglican priest, ordained by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He has published nine books, including “Reconciliation: the Ubuntu Theology of Desmond Tutu” and “Practicing Reconciliation in a Violent World.” In his PeaceBattle Institute he works on subjects of diversity, spirituality, prayer, race and reconciliation.

Rev. Battle is currently appointed as Herbert Thompson Professor of Church and Society and Director of the Desmond Tutu Center at General Theological Seminary in New York.
