“The idea that we live in something called “the environment” is utterly preposterous. The world that environs us, that surrounds us, is also within us. We are made of it; we eat, drink, and breathe it; is bone of our bone and flesh of our flesh.” Wendell Berry
Come and explore the natural beauty of DaySpring through a series of talks and reflective nature walks: we’ll be exploring themes of the natural world and our relationships with God’s creation. Share your discoveries with fellow retreatants as you pray and worship in this sacred space. We will learn about natural Florida, what nature teaches us about the Creator and what response we are invited into. The walks will mostly be on dirt trails.
Throughout the retreat worship and music will allow participants’ to further reflect on God’s creation through scripture and song with the Rev. Carol Fleming.
Bill Lewis has helped folks engage with the natural world for over 30 years through Sierra Club outings, Audubon outings, Nature Conservancy volunteering, and church-sponsored reflective walks.
The Rev. Carol Fleming is a Missioner for Church of the Apostles, a newly formed Episcopal worshiping community in Parrish, Florida. The Rev. Fleming retired from teaching in 1998 and followed God’s call into ministry in 1999. She has served as a priest in Ohio, Indiana, and now Southwest Florida. She looks forward to leading and serving participants in worship and being open to where the Spirit leads as participants explore God’s creation at DaySpring Episcopal Conference Center.
