Activities and Recreation
Retreats
DaySpring
plays host to several hundred retreats each year. We do not
sponsor our own retreats instead we have chosen to concentrate our
attention on providing first- class accommodations and first-class
hosting services so that our guests will be able to concentrate
all of their attention on their programs.
DaySpring is an ideal place for small groups such as leadership
teams and committees to meet for strategic planning sessions and
to spend the quality time needed to build personal relationships
upon which shared visions are formed. DaySpring is also able to
host large groups. The largest meeting spaces on campus are our
two pavilions, which seats up to 300 each. All buildings at
DaySpring are air-conditioned. Seating and tables can be
configured to meet the requirements of any group.
Our beautiful grounds offer many locations where small groups
can hold outdoor meetings under majestic oaks, or beside the pond
or by the river. All of large meeting rooms are equipped with
professional sound systems and other audio/visual aids. DaySpring
is also equipped with a satellite downlink to receive live remote
programs. There is no additional charge for meeting space or use
of A/V equipment. Those costs, as well as food, are part of the
inclusive rate paid by each overnight guest.
DaySpring is an outstanding value when compared to hotel
conference facilities, and the atmosphere is incomparable.
Conferences
DaySpring is an outstanding conference location. Because of its
close proximity to the major population centers of west central
Florida, and Interstate 75, DaySpring is quickly and easily
accessible to large numbers of people. In addition to overnight
conferences, many groups come for the day.
Camps
DaySpring
is youth friendly. A number of organizations have chosen DaySpring
to be the site of their summer camping programs. Campers range
from elementary to high school age. We offer a great mix of indoor
and outdoor activities. DaySpring has two swimming pools and a
number of canoes for happy paddling on the Manatee River. We also
have volleyball, basketball, and tennis, bike and jogging paths
and a large playing field for flag football, soccer or just
running around.
We host choir camps, summer band camps and camps for children
with special needs such as those recovering from burns and with
disabilities. Our Youth Area can accommodate up to 128 overnight
guests. Our dormitories can accommodate up to 96. Thousands of
youngsters have spent some of the most special time of their lives
at DaySpring. Their experience and the friendships they have made
will be with them for the rest of their lives.
Family Reunions
Many families find DaySpring to an excellent location for
family reunions. Some book one of our houses, others chose a
cottage. The important thing is everyone is together. There are
lots of fun things to see and do, the food is fabulous and there
are plenty of nearby sights to visit on short day trips including
world famous theme parks and beaches.
Trails
DaySpring's trail network allows guests to observe the wonders
of creation. One trail allows hikers to follow the Stations of the
Cross. Each station has a bench where those following The Way may
stop for prayer and meditation. The stations also offer
breathtaking vistas of DaySpring's unique habitat. Other trails
pass under a canopy of majestic oaks and are perfect for walking
or even cross-country jogging.
Pools
Our two swimming pools are ideal spots to cool off on warm
afternoons or to get in a good cardiovascular workout.
Canoeing
One
of the best ways to observe Florida's marine environment is from
the seat of one of DaySpring's fleet of canoes. Guests can paddle
their way beside the Mangroves on the river's edge or into
estuaries teaming with bird life. Arrangements for longer
excursions can be made through local canoe outposts.
Ropes Course
DaySpring has a complete Ropes Course which, provides
participants with an opportunity to develop teamwork and trust as
they work together to overcome obstacles and exercise their
problem-solving skills. The course offers challenging situations
that require group decision making and positive risk taking.
Trained facilitators insure safety and the benefits of teamwork
clearly understood.
Nearby Attractions
DaySpring is located near Sarasota, Bradenton, Tampa and St.
Petersburg. These cities have beautiful beaches, museums,
restaurants, and golf courses. The nearby Prime Outlet Mall in
Ellenton features one of the largest collections of brand name
stores anywhere in the country. Year round ice skating is
